Swimming Pool Chlorine Effects On The Body

swimming pool chlorine effects on the body
Q) I love to swim, especially in the hot summer months. But the chlorine in the water makes my skin itchy, dry and red. How can I cure this condition?

Ans) If you stay in the pool for too long, you’ll get dry, chalky skin, and sometimes a red, itchy rash. This is because chlorine in the water strips away the surface layer of oil that usually locks the moisture into your skin. The best way to protect your skin is to avoid chlorine as much as possible, and to take short, warm showers or baths to rinse off skin. There are also cosmeceutic products available to swimmers, which neutralize chlorine and block chemicals from drying the skin. Be careful to use a mild cleanser with moisturizing properties that are free of fragrances and dyes for your shower after the swim since harsh soaps and alcohol-based products can wash away the natural oils of your skin. Also get your skin exfoliated and moisturized on regular basis at a dermatologist’s clinic to help skin hydrate and revive from the chlorine and sun damage in summers.

#FAQ #answer #questions #chlorine #water #swim #summers #affect #dry #skin #body #hair #care #skintips #dermatologist #cosmeceutic #products #natural #oil #medifacial #hydrate #rejuvenate #soaps #mild #cleansers #clinic #Delhi #Appleskin

www.appleskinclinic.co.in

At the same time, as with any cleanse, your liver will need additional support. Liver cleansing foods include garlic, turmeric, flaxseeds, milk thistle, lemons, limes, and avocados.
And always drink plenty of water when detoxing. Divide your weight by two and drink that number of ounces of fluoride-free water each day to help flush the toxins.
Even though iodine may be the best way to detox from ‪#‎fluoride‬, studies show that other methods may help reverse the damage done by fluoride in the body.
Curcumin Fights ‪#‎Fluoride_Toxicity‬
In a study published in Pharmacognosy Magazine, curcumin was found to protect against the brain-damaging effects of fluoride.
Other studies show ‪#‎curcumin‬, the active ingredient in the spice turmeric, also protects the kidneys against fluoride toxicity.[iii] And curcumin has been shown to prevent DNA damage from fluoride in human lymphocytes.[
Tamarind Moves Fluoride Out of Bones
Tamarind is an African spice commonly used in Ayurvedic medicine. In a recent randomized, diet control study, Indian researchers studied the effect of tamarind in 30 subjects living in an area with high natural fluoride levels. After two weeks, the group supplementing with tamarind had a significant increase in fluoride excreted through their urine. The researchers concluded that tamarind mobilized fluoride from bone and carried it out in urine.
In another study, Indian schoolboys ate 10 grams of tamarind every day. After 18 days, their excretion of fluoride was significantly increased. The researchers concluded that tamarind could delay fluorosis by improving excretion of fluoride in the urine.
Tamarind is a tropical tree. Its pulp, bark, and leaves can be used to make a tincture or tea. Leaves, flowers, fruit, and seeds are used to make curries, lentils, salads, stews and soups.
Animal studies also show benefits of nutrition against fluoride:
Blackberry juice counters the oxidative damage of fluoride and also repairs the effects of fluoride liver toxicity.
Holy basil protects offspring from maternal fluoride damage
Quercetin protects heart against fluoride oxidative stress
Selenium and zinc protect against kidney damage from fluoride

http://www.greenmedinfo.com/disease/fluoride-toxicity">How To Detox From Fluoride
In today's world, fluoride is hard to avoid completely. Here's how to detox your body.
Adding fluoride to the water supplies has been called murder on a grand scale. But whether or not your town adds it to your drinking water, you're probably ingesting this toxin every day.
You're exposed to fluoride if you take prescription drugs like Prozac, swim in pools, or sit in hot tubs. It's in conventional produce like lettuce, and commercial bread and bakery products. It may be in beverages like iced tea, wine, and beer made with municipal water, or in infant formula. And of course it's in toothpaste. It may even sneak into your food from Teflon coated pots and pans.
In addition to increasing the risk of death, fluoride also calcifies the pineal gland and hardens the arteries. And it increases the risk of hypothyroidism.
Minimizing your exposure to fluoride is important. But in today's world, this toxin is hard to avoid completely. That's why it's critical to detox your body from fluoride.
Iodine Flushes Out Fluoride
Cleansing your system of fluoride is not the same as getting rid of mercury or arsenic. Fluoride is not a heavy metal. It's a halide in the same family as bromine and chlorine. Fluoride, bromine, chlorine, and perchlorate all bind to iodine receptors in the body and displace iodine.
Perchlorate is a man-made molecule combining oxygen and chlorine. It's used for rocket fuel and industrial processes and contaminates our water supplies.
According to Dr. Mark Sircus, the only effective way to detox from perchlorate, fluoride or other halides is with iodine.[i] Chelation and other methods for heavy metal detox may not be as effective.
Loading the body with iodine displaces fluoride from cell receptors and flushes the fluoride out of the body in urine.
Your body can't make iodine. You have to get it from food or supplements. And unfortunately it's estimated that as many as 74% of Americans are deficient in this crucial element.
The best dietary source of iodine is seaweed. Sea vegetables like wakame, nori, kombu (kelp), arame, and dulse are the richest edible sources of iodine. Just one tablespoon of dried dulse flakes contains about 750 mcg of iodine. The government's daily recommended amount is about 150 mcg.
Other good ‪#‎iodine‬ sources include seafood (salmon, lobster, scallops, cod and shrimp). Cranberries, yogurt, potatoes, strawberries, and navy beans also contain iodine but in much lower amounts.
You can also find seaweed supplements like kelp tablets at most health food stores.
Iodine supplements are also widely available. Iodoral tablets contain 5 mg of iodine, and 7.5 mg of potassium iodide. A typical dose is 6.25mg or 12.5 milligrams of combined iodine and iodide.
Detoxing from fluoride using iodine may trigger symptoms like headaches, agitation, and palpitations as fluoride is released. To minimize those effects, it's important to work with a natural health specialist. According to Dr. David Brownstein in his book At the same time, as with any cleanse, your liver will need additional support. Liver cleansing foods include garlic, turmeric, flaxseeds, milk thistle, lemons, limes, and avocados.
And always drink plenty of water when detoxing. Divide your weight by two and drink that number of ounces of fluoride-free water each day to help flush the toxins.

1. Limit Sugary Soft Drinks and Foods
Sugar leads to the production of acids in the mouth, which soften and eventually wear away at enamel. Chewy candies that stick on your teeth are particularly damaging. So are soft drinks. Along with sugar, soft drinks may contain citric acid and phosphoric acid, making them even more acidic. Artificially sweetened soft drinks are a smarter choice than sugary soft drinks. But sugarless sweeteners are acidic and may erode enamel over time. The best choice when you're thirsty: a glass of water.

2. Help Yourself to Foods That Protect Enamel
Calcium in foods neutralizes acids in your mouth. Calcium is also an essential mineral needed to keep bones strong. Milk, cheese, and other dairy products all help protect and strengthen enamel, says Pamela L. Quinones, RDH, president of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association. Choose low-fat or fat-free dairy to help keep fat and calories to a minimum. If you frequently drink orange juice, O.J. with added calcium may be the best choice. Calcium buffers the normal acidity of orange and other citrus juices.

3. Avoid Over-brushing
Brushing too vigorously can wear down enamel. "Always use a soft brush and brush gently," says Seldin. Hold the brush at about a 45-degree angle to your gums and move it back and forth in short strokes, about the distance of one tooth. Don't brush immediately after eating sweets or citrus fruits. Acidic foods temporarily soften enamel and may make it more susceptible to damage from brushing. Wait for up to an hour after you eat, giving your enamel time to re-harden. Then brush your teeth.

4. Treat Heartburn and Eating Disorders
With severe heartburn, stomach acids may escape up into the esophagus. If those acids reach your mouth, they can erode enamel. The eating disorder bulimia, in which people vomit food after they eat, is another threat to enamel. If you have symptoms of heartburn or bulimia, talk to your doctor about treatment.

5. Beware of Chlorinated Pools
When swimming pools aren't chlorinated properly, the water may become too acidic. Tooth enamel exposed to pool water can begin to erode. In a study by the Centers for Disease Control, 15% of frequent swimmers showed signs of enamel erosion, compared to only 3% of people who don't swim. Check with the recreation center or gym where you swim to make sure the pool's pH is checked regularly. While swimming, keep your mouth closed to avoid exposing your teeth to chlorinated water.

10 toxic chemicals in personal care products http://b4in.org/qF1C

Opting for locally sourced, whole foods is a critical step in taking care of your personal health. But, being concerned about what food goes into your mouth is only half the battle. You may be surprised to learn the personal care items you and your family are using – every day – are putting your health in jeopardy because of the toxic chemicals inside.

From cleansers to cosmetics, the personal care products lurking in your home may contain known cancer-causing chemicals and other toxins. Make the switch (today), because the use of chemical-free shampoo and other natural personal care products will greatly reduce your exposure to harmful substances.

Are you using these cancer-causing (toxic) personal care ingredients?

1. Sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) and sodium laureth sulfate (SLES): These closely related chemicals pop up in everything from industrial soaps to toothpaste, and are contained in nearly all shampoos and foaming products. They are known to cause skin irritation, serious eye damage, diarrhea, breathing difficulty – even death – in laboratory animals.

The American College of Toxicology has found these chemicals can cause malformation in the eyes of children, while other research shows SLS in particular can damage the immune system, potentially leaving the body open to damage, disorders and disease, including cancer. Toxic residues can be left behind in the heart, brain and liver.

2. FD&C color pigments: They may seem like harmless colorants, but the many pigments finding their way into personal care products can damage the skin. In addition, it’s been shown that absorption of some of these colorants can deplete the body of oxygen, and in extreme cases, lead to death. The majority of these pigments are made from coal tar – a substance known to cause cancer in laboratory animals.

3. Isopropyl alcohol: How many times have you noticed this chemical listed on the ingredients of lotions, fragrances, cosmetics and similar products? You might think because of its widespread use that isopropyl alcohol is safe. But in reality, this petroleum-derived substance is the same chemical used in antifreeze and as a solvent in shellac. Both inhalation and ingestion are dangerous – leading to dizziness, depression, vomiting, nausea and coma.

4. Polyethylene glycol (PEG): These hard-working chemicals are used to dissolve oil and grease, as well as thicken products. They are even used as oven cleaners. Yet, PEGs also find their way into many of the personal care products you use every day. Potentially carcinogenic, PEGs are known to damage the immune system and exposure can lead to cancer.

5. Chlorine: Despite being used in swimming pools, laundry products, sewage systems and tap water – among other applications – chlorine is far from harmless. This chemical is widely known to cause delirium, diabetes, high blood pressure, circulatory collapse, and a host of other serious conditions. It is also a likely carcinogen. While you may not see chlorine on product labels, it’s important that you protect your skin from contact with it.

More http://b4in.org/qF1C

How to protect your #skin, #hair from pool chlorine!

Swimming or relaxing in the pool during these hot summers may give you the much needed respite from the scorching heat, but this joyous moment can also bring trauma to your skin and hair.

This is mostly because of chlorine, a bacteria and germ fighting ingredient that is added to most pools to keep them clean and fresh.

Hence, celebrity Dermatologist Kiran Lohia, Medical Director of Lumiere Dermatology, New Delhi, tells you how to keep pool chrorine from destroying your hair and skin and look gorgeous even as you continue to enjoy your regular swimming.

For your Skin

The chlorine in your pool may help keep it clean, but it can be quite drying and irritating to the skin. Repetitive chlorine exposure can cause swimmer’s itch or dermatitis, resulting in this particularly phenomena. Furthermore, if the pH (acid-base balance) of the pool and chlorine is not balanced to 7.2-7.5, then these symptoms can worsen; leaving your skin with a red rash that is uncomfortable to say the least.

So, how do you solve this? First of all, make sure the pH of the pool is balanced to the required pH, thereby reducing your risk of this pesky issue. Then, make sure you wash the chlorine off your skin immediately after you swim so that this chemical cannot cause further damage. Finally, make sure you use a good body lotion immediately before you go in the pool to protect your skin and after you shower to seal moisture in. This doubling up of your lotion usage will help improve your skin so you can continue your pool swimming!

For your Hair

Unfortunately, chlorine is extremely damaging to the hair shaft. Hair has a protective layer of natural sebum that keeps it supple and shiny. Chlorine has a drying effect that strips those oils right off, causing hair to break and look frizzy and aged.

Chlorine and salt can also get under the hair’s cuticles; the scale-like layers that cover the shaft and make it look shiny and smooth. The cuticles usually are flat, but when they’re roughed-up, bumpy and uneven, the hair looks brittle and unmanageable. The worst part is that the problems of too much chlorine doesn’t just look and feel unappealing; it can also weaken the hair so much that you get breakage, split ends and the hair ultimately becomes too fragile to style.

Luckily, preventing chlorine damage is possible. The best thing to do is to start wearing a swim cap. This tightly adherent cap will prevent the water from affecting the hair, so that you can keep your treasured locks gorgeous. Now, for those that feel uncomfortable in swim caps,

There is also a solution for those that feel uncomfortable in swim caps. First of all, you can try to wet your hair with fresh water first, so that less chlorine water can saturate the already wet hair. Another option is to apply oil or conditioner before entering the pool, so that you can have a protective barrier on your hair cuticle.

#Health #HealthTips #LatestMedicalNews
www.medibiztv.com

To stay adequately hydrated, it’s important to drink water throughout the day. Get more than you think you need, mostly between meals, not with meals, as drinking too much with your food can dilute digestive enzymes and interfere with nutrient assimilation.

Thyroid disease can cause water retention, puffiness, and bloating and the body will hold on to water fiercely unless you are drinking enough. Not drinking adequate amounts of water when you’re bloated or swollen is counterproductive and dehydration can interfere with metabolism.

Please know that fluoride and chlorine are hard on the thyroid, so I recommend a reverse osmosis filter for your tap at home. NO COST TIPS ON STOPPING HAIR LOSS.....

Massage your scalp with your fingertips (not your nails) daily to stimulate and promote circulation to your scalp.

Comb or brush your hair and scalp gently with about 50 - 100 strokes in the morning and at night. This helps break up hardened sebum that is clogging your hair follicles. Doing this alone will help in growing new hair.

When using hair dryers, always keep the heat a good distance from your scalp and hair. Avoid heating the scalp and hair excessively.

Avoid getting hair creams, lotions, styling gels and sprays directly on the scalp as this will clog up your hair follicles. Use a light hold spray if you want.

After swimming in a pool, shampoo your hair as soon as possible to remove any chlorine residue. Chlorine is extremely damaging to the hair and scalp.

Avoid over-exposing your hair and scalp to the wind and sun.

Avoid tight hats and caps as they contribute to poor circulation, depriving the hair of proper nutrition. Sweat, dirt and grime around the rim inhibit follicle health and contribute to build-up.

Always consult your health care provider for extreme fallout and thinning. A medical condition or medication could be causing hair loss side effects.

Strive for balance and harmony in both your personal and professional lifestyle. High stress factors can cause our body to react by fluctuating hormone levels. This in turn causes excessive oil secretion (sebum) which results in hair loss.

Pregnancy, nursing, menopause even birth control medication cause constant changing factors on your nutritional needs and hormonal levels which contribute to hair loss and fallout.

Avoid
Splenda Found To Have Possible Neurotoxic Properties http://b4in.org/g2zm

It seems like every six months a new study is published on the bitter truth about Splenda’s lack of safety, which is still marketed to the world as a safe alternative to relatively calorie-rich sweeteners like sugar and honey.

Now a new study published in the open access journal PLoS titled, “Sucralose Induces Biochemical Responses in Daphnia magna [water flea],” indicates that the artificial sweetener sucralose – sold under the trade name Splenda and approved for consumption in at least 70 countries – may have sublethal adverse effects on animal behavior and physiology due to its oxidative and possibly neurotoxic properties.

The researchers described the nature and intention of their study:
To our knowledge, this is the first study examining biomarker responses in aquatic organisms exposed to sucralose.

Based on the observed swimming abnormalities in Daphnia exposed to sucralose and recent findings that correlate AChE (acetylcholinesterase) activity with oxidative stress in humans, we hypothesized that these behavioural effects are related to alterations in AChE and oxidative status.

Sucralose — a sucrose containing three chlorine atoms — despite being marketed initially by the manufacturer as somewhat natural (i.e. “it tastes like sugar because it is made from sugar”), is an extremely synthetic chemical compound highly resistant to biodegradation, and like other compounds within the organochloride class of chemicals, which include pesticides like DDT, it persists for a long time in the environment.

For instance, a recent study found it detectable in offshore waters, such as the Atlantic Gulf Stream.[ii] Indeed, it is because of its exceptional non-biodegradability that it has been proposed to be an ideal tracer for human (anthropogenic) activities.

This extremely popular sweetener has already been identified to have potential diabetes-promoting and carcinogenic properties. For instance, preliminary research in animals indicates it may be a cause of leukemia, which motivated the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI), last year, to downgrade its safety rating from “Safe” to “Caution.”

More http://b4in.org/g2zm
10 Reasons to Use a Shower Filter

1- The EPA has stated that every household in the United States has elevated levels of chloroform in the air due to chlorine released from showering water.

2- Tap water often contains at least as much, if not more, chlorine than is recommended for use in swimming pools.

3- More chlorine enters the body through dermal absorption and inhalation while showering than through drinking tap water.

4- The chlorine in showering water has harsh, drying effects on skin and hair.

5- Skin pores widen while showering, making dermal absorption of chlorine and other chemicals possible.

6- The chlorine in showering water can cause rashes and other skin irritations when absorbed by the skin.

7- Chemicals in showering water vaporize at a much faster rate than the actual water. Thus, the steam in a shower contains a much higher concentration of chemicals than the water itself.

8- Inhaled chemicals make their way into the bloodstream much more quickly than ingested chemicals, without the added filtration benefits of digestion.

9- More water contaminants are released into the air of a home from the shower than from any other source.

10- Chlorine is a suspected cause of breast cancer. Women suffering from breast cancer are all found to have 50-60 percent more chlorine in their breast tissue than healthy women.

http://www.watermart.com/
http://bit.ly/17pVEI5

Swimming Pool Safety Tips
Yippee, Pool Party!
Your dog may take these words as an invitation to jump into the middle of kids playing “Marco Polo” or as her time to scout for crumbs under deck chairs.
Either way, some important water safety tips are in order because some dogs don’t like to swim and others shouldn’t.
Water Safety Example #1: One day Buddy, a Basset Hound, saw his English Setter friend, Spencer, on the far side of the pond. With a mighty leap, Buddy took off swimming toward the other bank. Buddy’s heavy body and stubby legs were not seaworthy.
Had Buddy not turned himself around, it could have become an emergency. Dogs will panic in the water and try to climb on top of a rescuer, so it is safer to throw them something that floats, like a life preserver on a rope, they can “grab.”
Water Safety Example #2: A nine-week-old Miniature Poodle barked frantically as her owners left in a rubber raft. She was unhappy to have been left on the shore. She jumped into the lake and headed for the raft. Her frightened owners turned the raft around and luckily the puppy followed them to land. She survived the incident better than her frantic owners.
The puppy incident could have been avoided if the pup had been taught to “Stay,” had been placed within an Ex-pen for its safety, or had simply been taken on the raft with a life jacket. Never assume your dog will not try to follow you into water.
Some Water Safety Training Tips to Keep in Mind
Although not all dogs are fond of water, they should be exposed to it for their own safety. With some simple training and safety devices, you can ease your mind and protect your dog this summer.
•Give him a gradual introduction into the pool or lake by holding him snugly and slowly walking into the water. Let him get wet a little at a time and eventually let him swim to the exit. Make it a positive experience with lots of encouragement and praise.
•Teach proper swimming technique. All dogs will instinctively paddle when submerged in water, but as inexperienced swimmers, many dogs try to rely on their front legs and do little with their rear legs. This results in an almost vertical swim technique with lots of splashing. It’s exhausting and very easy for a dog to become over-tired this way. With proper training, the most vertical of swimmers can learn to use their rear legs, evening out their performance and swimming much more effectively and safely. Keep a close eye on your dog – if you see them become over-stimulated or fatigued, it’s time to call them out. If you see your accomplished swimmer dog lowering his rear, this is a sign that he is getting tired.
•Dogs have poor depth perception so if the pool has steps, mark them with a big potted plant and make sure he associates the plant as the exit marker. If there are no steps, provide a non-slip ramp for getting out. Spend sufficient time training him to go up the ramp if he’s alone.
•If your dog plays in a lake, make sure to stand at the place on the shore where he can easily walk out.
•Always use a life jacket on your dog in ponds, lakes, rivers, or the open water. Just like with people, it’s easy for a dog to develop a cramp in a leg, become exhausted too far from shore, or in the case of rivers or oceans, overwhelmed by tides. Life jackets give your dog the extra protection to stay buoyant.
•Keep safety floatation devices nearby, just in the case of an emergency. If your dog gets into trouble, a life preserver attached to a long line is the best course of action to take. Dogs panic easily in the water when trouble hits, and a panicked, flailing dog can accidentally drown any person trying to assist it. Get the dog to grab out to the preserver first and try to reel it in closer to shore before physically trying to help it out.
•Training polite pool manners is a must. A big Golden Retriever sailing through the air in her excitement to get in the water is a no-no. Train the canine to “Wait” at pool’s edge or to always use the steps or the ramp.
•Also teach her that the “Come” command applies to the pool as much as it does to dry land.
•Be mindful of the specific needs of your dog’s breed. Each dog’s physical structure and body-type will greatly impact his swimming ability. Heavily muscled bully breeds exert more energy while swimming due to their increased body mass. Consider using a lifejacket with such dogs for added protection.
•Watch your dog’s nails! Dogs can quickly wear their nails down to the point of bleeding as they excitedly race around the pool’s exterior. Keep a watchful eye on the pads of their feet as well. Repeated launching from pool steps can tear up paw pads; especially for dogs who spend most of their time on grass.
•Unless your pool cover is solid and strong enough to support your weight, do not leave it on when your dog is unattended near the pool. Countless dogs, even accomplished swimmers, have lost their lives following an unexpected tumble into a covered pool. Once they’re in, the cover is disorienting and it’s almost always impossible for a dog to find his way out. If your dog needs to spend time in the yard unsupervised, consider erecting a pool safety fence.
•Avoid letting your dog drink pool water. Always keep an ample supply of fresh water around so your dog can drink without attempting to drink from the pool. Also make sure you give your dog many opportunities to relieve himself after a swim as he is likely to ingest water from wherever he is swimming (pool, pond, lake or ocean) and may need to urinate more often.
•Make sure you rinse your dog off after a swim to get chlorine and other pool chemicals, as well as bacteria or dirt he might get on him from a pond or lake. Don’t let your dog sit in a wet collar as hot spots can develop. Be mindful of areas where water can collect, like ears, groin, and armpits, where moisture-induced infections can occur.
•If your dog is overweight or a senior, check with your veterinarian first before allowing him to swim. This is also important for dogs who are generally sedentary. Dogs, like people, experience muscle soreness and stiffness and they’re counting on us to lookout for their best interests.

Sensational summer hair is not just about having bounce and body, it's also about healthy hair growth and protecting your hair from the sun's harmful UV rays.
SO CHECK OUT TIPSS FOR SENSATIONAL SUMMER !!!!!
- - - - -
-
Easy tips for sensational summer hair With the summer party and barbecue season just around the corner, now is the time to start prepping your hair so that it is healthy, shiny and radiant. Sensational summer hair is not just about having bounce and body, it's also about healthy hair growth and protecting your hair from the sun's harmful UV rays. We all love the sun, sand and sea but the truth is summer can have a nasty effect on our precious locks. Here are five easy hair tips and simple-to-use hair products that will keep your hair shiny and healthy - without too much hassle.

Summer hair tip 1:
Be sun smart UV rays are bad news for our hair, as well as our skin. Too much sun can leave hair dry, brittle and faded. For complete protection from the summer sun, try Apivita's sunscreen spray for hair. Fortified with cotton and sunflower extracts, this hair product can also be used as a leave-in conditioner for dry hair.

Summer hair tip 2:
Invest in a good shampoo It's true that not all shampoos are created equal. John Masters Organics uses wild-harvested ingredients to create a hair care line that is both luxurious and earth-friendly. All of their hair products are created in line with USDA certified organic food standards, and are free from harmful chemicals and synthetic substances - so you can care for your hair, as well as the environment.

Summer hair tip 3:
Get styling With the right styling products you can create a hairstyle that will have everyone talking. Bumble and Bumble Styling Creme is neither a mousse nor a gel, but this multipurpose hair product acts like both. It's super easy to use, and lifts and defines both straight and curly hair plus can be used either wet or dry. For the icing on the cake, finish off your 'do' with Moroccan Oil Glimmer Shine Spray - it will enhance your hair colour and leave your whole head shimmering.

Summer hair tip 4:
Protect your colour If your hair is colour-treated, the last thing you want to do is spend too much time in the sun. And forget the swimming pool - chlorine will strip the colour from your hair shaft in the blink of an eye. However, there are hair care products that will let you swim with coloured locks. Rene Furterer's Okara Restructuring and Protective Radiance Mask is a must-have tool that will protect your colour while nourishing your hair - and means you don't have to sacrifice pool time.

Summer hair tip 5:
Brush it Brushing your hair regularly will not only keep it free from knots, but it will stimulate circulation in the scalp which encourages blood flow to the roots of your hair. The golden rule of brushing says: The longer your hair, the bigger your brush should be. Mason Pearson make a range of beautiful brushes that your hair will love. Whilst they may seem rather expensive, these long-lasting quality hair brushes are an investment in your future.

Q) I love to swim, especially ...

Summer heat can cause dry, chapped lips. Protecting your lips with a lip balm or lip gloss with moisture and SPF protection is important. Damage to our lips can lead to oral cancer down the road. Try to use lip protection with an SPF rating of at least 15.

Staying Hydrated. This is good for your entire body but can especially be true when snacking and drinking by the pool or beach. Keeping our mouths hydrated will help protect against tooth decay and keep our oral tissues moist and prevent them from drying out. Also, drinking water will help wash clear any sugary/acidy build up from snacks, drinks and fruit.

Swim Wisely. Many people are unaware the damage swimming in a pool can cause on our dental health. High chlorine content can actually cause tooth enamel erosion so swimming in the ocean is actually a better option. The high salt water content can actually reduce oral bacteria. Remember to brush and rinse regularly after a dip in the pool to help limit the possible damage to your Radiant summertime smile.

Do Not Forget Breakfast. People often forget the most important meal of the day especially in the summer. Skipping breakfast can lead to increased snacking on unhealthy items. How To Detox From Fluoride
In ...

How To Detox From Fluoride

Tooth Enamel: What Helps, What...

Tooth Enamel: What Helps, What Hurts

The outer surface of teeth, called enamel, is designed to last a lifetime.
